Claude Campus Ambassadors

What's this about?

Applications are open for Anthropic's Claude Campus Ambassadors programme, expanded this year to three tracks: undergraduates, graduate students, and PhDs/postdocs.

Why do labs run campus programmes?

Distribution and hiring, in that order. Students are the population whose tool habits are still forming, and the assistant someone learns to think with in their second year is the one they will default to for a decade. Splitting into three tracks is the substantive change — a PhD student's use case is research work, not coursework, and that is a very different product relationship from an undergraduate's.

Why is it worth noticing?

  1. It lands the same week New York City banned AI in elementary and middle schools — the same technology, opposite institutional responses at different ages.
  2. The postdoc track is aimed squarely at the scientific-research push all three labs are making.
  3. Included as a record of the distribution strategy rather than as news.
