Claude Code raises weekly limits 25% permanently

What's this about?

From September 14, standard weekly limits in Claude Code go up 25% permanently for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans. Until then the existing temporary 50% increase stays in place.

What is a "weekly limit" and why does the structure matter?

Subscription coding tools meter usage over a rolling window rather than per request. The number that matters is not the headline percentage but whether the window is weekly or shorter: a weekly budget lets you spend three days on a large refactor and coast afterwards, while a daily cap forces you to pace work you cannot always pace. Raising the weekly ceiling is therefore a different kind of improvement from raising a daily one.

Why is it worth noticing?

  1. It lands in the same week OpenAI reset Codex quotas and published efficiency fixes — competitive pressure on limits is now visible and moving in users' favour.
  2. Permanent rather than promotional is the operative word; the current 50% is temporary and will step down to 25%, so this is a decrease from today's ceiling and an increase from the baseline.
  3. Worth reading alongside the `tare` quota tool from the 2026-08-28 digest: more allowance does not tell you where it goes.
