What's this about?
Chinese AI KOL Baoyu (@dotey) released BaoCut, a Mac app that transcribes videos, identifies speakers, cleans up filler words, translates subtitles, and does simple cuts — all driven by an AI agent through a CLI + Skill, with a GUI for human preview and second-pass editing. Trigger it from Claude Code or Codex with one command.
What exactly is an "Agent Skill"?
A Skill is a packaged instruction set + tools that teaches an AI agent a repeatable workflow — best practices baked in, so the agent doesn't rediscover them every time. BaoCut's design is the notable part: instead of building AI *into* the app, the app exposes a CLI that any agent can drive, and the GUI exists only for the human review step. Baoyu also shared his dev loop: prototype UI with a design skill, have Claude implement it 1:1, let Codex handle release plumbing.
Why is it worth noting?
481 likes plus multiple viral follow-up threads. It's a concrete pattern for "agent-native app" architecture — agent does the work through a CLI, human polishes through a GUI — that several builders called the right division of labor.
