Codex lets Astra eat 100% of your quota

What's this about?

Codex will let subscribers spend 100% of their allowance on Astra, the top model; Claude Code caps Fable usage at 50% of the weekly total. Baoyu (dotey) calls OpenAI's the more generous structure.

What exactly is a usage cap?

Subscriptions meter compute; the sub-cap decides how much can go to the most expensive model. A 50% cap forces mixed usage; 100% lets you burn everything on the frontier tier.

Why is this worth noting?

Quota design is quietly becoming a competitive axis — the HN launch thread is full of users comparing burn rates across plans. How much *top-model* time a subscription buys now matters as much as the sticker price.
