Cursor + Origin + Vercel

What's this about?

Cursor added an end-to-end path: create a new web app inside the editor, store the code with Origin, and deploy it to Vercel — without leaving Cursor.

What is this actually collapsing?

Three separate steps that each used to need their own tool and account: scaffolding a project, putting it in version control with a remote, and getting it onto a URL. None of them are hard; all of them are friction, and friction is what stops small ideas from becoming things that exist. This is the same consolidation Replit and Lovable have been pushing, arriving in an editor people already use for serious work.

Why is it worth noticing?

  1. The strategic read is that the editor is trying to become the deployment surface, not just the writing surface.
  2. It is a bet that people want fewer accounts, not more control.
  3. Worth watching for what it means about lock-in: the convenience is real, and so is the coupling.
