The ChatGPT extension now drives Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi

What's this about?

OpenAI's browser extension expanded beyond Chrome to Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. You can pull open tabs into a task with an @ mention, have it complete web tasks like cancelling subscriptions or entering data into a CRM, and use a side chat inside any tab.

What exactly is a "browser agent"?

Rather than calling an API, this drives the browser you already use — clicking, typing and reading the page as you would. That is powerful for services with no API, and it is also why it is sensitive: the agent inherits every session you are logged into, so anything you can do while logged in, it can do too.

  1. Practical enthusiasm for the specific chores named — subscription cancellation and CRM data entry are exactly the irregular, draining tasks Mollick argues consumer AI is underrated for.
  2. The recurring caution is scope of access: an agent operating in your logged-in browser is a much broader permission than an API key.
