ColaMD v1.8.1 — agent-friendly Markdown editor

What's this about?

OrangeAI shipped ColaMD v1.8.1, an update to his open-source Markdown editor: a new source/WYSIWYG toggle, HTML export, VS Code integration, and smarter handling when an AI agent edits a file you have open.

What exactly is "agent-friendly"?

Markdown is the plain-text format AI tools read and write by default. "Agent-friendly" means the editor cooperates when a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex) modifies the same file you're viewing — reloading cleanly and preserving things like relative image paths — instead of fighting the agent's edits.

Why it matters

As Markdown becomes the default format of the AI era, a free, cross-platform editor that plays nicely with agents fills a surprisingly empty niche.
