DeepMind "interviews" Apollo 2 about Gemini Robotics 2

What's this about?

DeepMind published a light explainer in the form of a mock "interview" with Apollo 2, a humanoid robot, about what it's like running on the Gemini Robotics 2 model — a friendly format to show off its embodied-AI stack.

What is "embodied AI"?

Embodied AI is AI that controls a physical body — a robot — so it has to perceive the real world, plan, and move, not just output text. Gemini Robotics 2 is DeepMind's model for driving robots; Apollo 2 is a humanoid it runs on. The hard part is bridging "understanding a scene" to "reliably doing the right physical action."

Why does it matter?

Robotics is where the big labs are pushing next, and the marketing format aside, it signals DeepMind wants to own the model that sits inside third-party humanoids.
