[No Priors] Anthropic's Robotics Interest

What's this about?

An episode on reporting that Anthropic — historically a pure language-and-agents lab — is exploring robotics and embodied AI.

What exactly is "embodied AI"?

AI that controls a physical body — arms, wheels, sensors — rather than just producing text. It's much harder than chat because the physical world is slow, continuous, and unforgiving of the trial-and-error that language models train on.

Why does it matter?

Every frontier lab converging on robotics (Google, OpenAI, now possibly Anthropic) signals a shared belief that the next capability moat is in the physical world, where data can't be scraped — it has to be collected by machines acting in reality.
